Abstract
The theme of this work is the relationship and common issues of faith and addiction (in particular, alcoholism). The goal is to find out whether faith, its presence and development in an individual, can play a role in recovery from an addiction. Can faith itself serve as an addictive factor. To achieve the goal a thesis was put forward arguing that only spirituality, which is an activity-based belief in God, can help "recover" from alcoholism. Three arguments have been defined to prove or reject the thesis: faith is identity (1), alcoholism (addiction) is a deformed identity (2), and faith (trust) in God restores identity and 'heals' the individual from alcoholism (3). The work is structured in 3 chapters. In the first part, various opinions and theories on belief and addiction (alcoholism) are considered. The second part contains an anonymous survey of alcoholics and an overview of the results. The third part contains an additional qualitative research - interviews. Keywords: addiction, alcoholism, Anonymous Alcoholics, faith, spirituality, quantitative and qualitative research.
