Abstract
Freedom is one of the most important topics in the hellenistic philosophy and probably even in philosophy at all. There has been a huge diversity in understanding the notion of freedom during the centuries. In Hellenistic philosophy we find the conception of freedom which is typical for ancient philosophy but new at the same time. Freedom is far away from the political situation and it lies only in the individual inner responsibility. Hellenistic philosophers work out the basis and exercises for ar happy life. This paper implies the conception of freedom as it appears in each of the most eminent hellenistic philosophies.
