Abstract
Coastal protection against washing off during storms has been carried out without established systemic approach and in trivial extend in Latvia. Therefore I have chosen for my Bachelor’s paper the objective to assess the effectiveness of the methods applied to the coastal protection. Deployed methods are the inspection of territory, photo fixation and evaluation acccording to the established scale of efficiency. The following conclusions have been drawn during working process: the amount of the existing coastal protection methods in the district of Kolkasrags - Ainaži is not sufficient and the majority of them is with limited validity or not effective enough. The most endangered coastal districts which need to be fortified are Kolkasrags, Mērsraga horn, the sea horn near Ragaciems, Mangaļsala, Ķurmrags and Kutkāju horn and the district from Engure to Riga. After the inspection of the territory maps in ArcView programme were developed. Bachelor’s paper is written in Latvian. It consists of 4 chapters and 3 appendices. Total amount of work is 59 pages.
