Abstract
There are 13 wild horsetail (Equisetum L.) species in Latvia. The aim of the author in the Master’s paper “Distribution of horsetail species in Latvia” is to elaborate distribution maps of horsetail species in Latvia, transform the mapping system to 10x10km sqare net, annalyse the growth indicators, workout a database on all horsetail horsetail species in Latvia. Master’s paper consists of introduction, 4 chapters, conclusion and suggestions, list of literature and annexes. In first chapter there is collected entire information of horsetail distribution in the world. Second chapter consists of methods and tasks. Third is about information about growth conditions. In fourth chapter author publishes distribution maps and makes annalization of them. Annex consists of collected database. Data were collected from 4 herbariums and 3 plant databases. With database relief there were made distribution maps and charts with biotopes. In research process of this paper, charts, graphic figures and maps were included to make this paper more spectacular. From the research it can be concluded that the most popular biotope is forest. It also shows that forest is the most appropriate place of distribution of horsetails. Piejūras lowland is the most widespread by horsetail species. The most widespread specie in Latvia is Equisetum pratense.
