Abstract
The Master’s thesis “The Russian Federation's Nationalist Policy in Latvia: Conformity of Declared Goals with its Actual Expressions” has been made with a view to compare the policy formally implemented by RF with the activities carried out by non-governmental organisations in Latvia. The theoretical part deals with the concept of soft and sharp power, national identity and the protection of constitutional security. The practical part of the work analyses the development of the compatriot policy in RF, their documents, as well as the activities of organisations representing the interests of Russian-speaking community in Latvia. The public reports of Latvian State security service in which it is possible to identify changes in policy topics, are also analysed. Conclusions were reached on the compatibility of the activities carried out with the official policies of the RF. The main research method used in this work is analysis of documents as well as websites.
