Abstract
Bachelor’s thesis is written in Latvian. It contains 15 images, 3 tables and 38 references. The aim: create a test, with which is possible to determine visual acuity under reduced conditions of contrast and luminance. Participants: 60 participants aged 20 to 83 years with near visual acuity binocularly of not less than 0,1 LogMAR units. Methodology: A test compiled of two tables. On one side of the page, a table of black letters on white background, providing high contrast and luminance conditions. On the other side, black letters on dark grey background, providing low contrast and luminance conditions. Results: under low contrast and brightness conditions after adaptation near visual acuity reduces by 0.25 ± 0.01 logMAR units. If the age of participants increases, the number of Skill points increase. Keywords: contrast, luminance, SKILL test.
