Abstract
Russia, both as a regional power and as a great power, is a force to be reckoned with, despite the frequent accusations that it is not one of the world's great powers. Russia's foreign policy actions in recent years have caused tensions not only in NATO, but in the entire Western globe, as they threaten not only the territorial sovereignty of countries, but also drive the basic values of the West. The aim of this work is to look at Russia's foreign policy and how it was influenced by the Eurasian ideology that developed before the creation of the Russian Federation. Although Eurasianism has historically experienced various forms of development, it fundamentally represents the view that Russia is a unique power located right in the middle of Europe and Asia, and that this central role gives Russia a special status. Eurasianism also emphasizes the historical, cultural and civilizational aspects, tendencies that are often used to achieve Russia's foreign policy goals. By identifying the ideology of Eurasianism and its correlation with Russia's foreign policy, it is possible to find an answer to the question - what motivates its aggressive foreign policy?
