- ItemCritical evaluation of the Dublin system and its efficacy as a basis for the EU’s response to the current refugee/migrant crisis(Riga Graduate School of Law, 2018) Skulte, Dāvis; Selga, Ēriks Kristiāns; Riga Graduate School of LawThe research aims to answer the question of whether the European Union’s Dublin system and political framework with regard to the current migration/refugee crisis is in compliance with the initial legal intentions and are reaching towards a solution to the massive European migrant/refugee crisis that has involved all the actors of the EU and even others. The background of this question is the EU’s Dublin System which in the last few years during the crisis has proven that its efficiency is far from the one originally intended. The question is relevant due to the Dublin System’s failure of ensuring equal rights for all asylum seekers applying for asylum in the EU territory for years, however the last few as from 2015 have given the greatest concern and has come so far that amendments for Dublin Regulation have been proposed and are currently under review.
