Abstract
Intensīvā kursa rezultāti uzrāda iesācējas iemaņu attīstību leksikas minimuma apguvē un to pareizu pielietošanu reģistrācijas aģentes amatā.
Angļu valodas speciāliem mērķiem kursa apmācības rezultāti un secinājumi var būt noderīgi nākamajam lidostas instruktoram, kas vadīs mācekļu turpmāko apmācību divu mēnešu garumā līdz pilnīgai sagatavotībai patstāvīgam darbam.
The present bachelor paper outlines the ways of teaching English for Special Purposes (ESP) to the Ground Handling department staff at the Riga International Airport. The theoretical part deals with the vocabulary presentation and as well as practice the problems of selecting an airport terminology minimum. The aim of the paper is to investigate the best ways of teaching the necessary lexical minimum for productive use applying the one-to-one method. The practical part focuses on the pilot study, which is presented in eight stages, and consists of the introduction to the airport service responsibilities, and of the activities and situations for the ESP vocabulary acquisition. The conclusions drawn are based on the results of the pilot study, the observations of the author of the paper and on the recommendations for future work. The outcomes of the pilot study reveal the development of the learner’s lexical competence and its appropriate use in the position of a check-in agent. The results and conclusions of the one-month intensive ESP course may serve as additional information to the next instructor, who will be supervising the novice for the future two months of the final preparation for independent work.
