In the thesis the subjective well-being is analysed as a part of a wider paradigm, i.e., lifepath. The components of the well-being of a particular generation – overall satisfaction with life and self-evaluation of achievements and success – are analysed within a life cycle that covers the transition from youth to adulthood (up to the age of 33). The study of the subjective well-being components is carried out on three levels: theoretical methodological – the analysis of conceptual grounds of youth life self-actualisation judgements and adaptation in the modern world; empiric methodological – the complex research of empirical indicators that explain subjective well-being, elaboration of typology and determinant models; applied – the ways of applying the empirical results interpretation and conclusions in actual social policy. The tasks are achieved by employing empirical data from the survey “Paths of a Generation” (1983–1998). Key words: youth in transition, subjective well-being, satisfaction with life, selfevaluation of achievements, longitudinal research.
